Caldwell I am looking for history/family heritage while family was in Victor/Cripple Creek from 1899-1904 period. My grandfather, Frederick Garland Williams lived at 509 W. Victor and uncle, Jacob Caldwell lived at 618 W. Victor. Jacob was killed in mining accident around 1903/1904 in Victor/Cripple Creek area. We found entry for Caldwell in your museum bank records under plexiglass showing he owned $5.00. We could not look at other records as they were secured. Frederick Garland Williams was married to Namah Helena Caldwell. One of my aunts, Mildred Elizabeth Williams was born in Cripple Creek on May 14th, 1904. Jacob Caldwell was Lena Caldwell Williams father. Fred married Lena. Jacob Caldwell was Fred's father in law. Jacob Caldwell wife Sara and maybe Lena's sisters and brothers were there also. Our cousin Jack Caldwell's father, Lena's brother was not interested in mining and was a stage performer. I believe Sara had 8 children. The Caldwell family came from Canada to Chicago to Cripple Creek and were there for the 1900 census. I found a sister and brother of Lena Caldwell in the Chicago census in Chicago in 1900. (one sister and brother) Fred and Lena his wife and two children came from San Jose, California to Cripple Creek after the 1900 census. Jacob SR. had two brothers. One died while working in Chicago. His wife and children lived in Canada. Other Caldwell families could be related in Ontario..Jacob's other brother I believe died in western Canada . That Jacob could have other family members, cousins, in Cripple Creek is very possible. Dad said the Caldwell family was wiped out by the explosion. Williams and Caldwell were popular names however so this part of the family if related needs to be traced back to Canada. Sorry I don't have records at hand as they are in storage or on dead computer database that I need to get restored. Fred and Lena's daughter Millie was born in Cripple Creek. I have a contact for the Caldwell family that I will try to locate. His information is excellent and very reliable. I do not remember if Jacob had a middle name. Fred worked the mines and was a family man.
